The Bump
Gender – It’s a girl!
Movement – She’s a very active little girl these days. She is almost always on my right side and moves a lot throughout the day. Thankfully I don’t feel her moving at night.
Baby Prep – Last week my mom, sister, and I worked really hard on the nursery. It isn’t complete, but we got a LOT done! I found a beautiful lamp and curtain at Crate and Barrel and started to organize the baby’s clothes. I also bought the baby a diaper bag at Vera Bradley in the Heather pattern, which I’m thrilled about!
Mommy Prep – A few weeks ago I realized that I need to prep for mommyhood just as much as I need to prep for the baby’s arrival. Each week I’m trying to do one thing for myself, whether it’s to pamper myself now (mani/pedi) or to prepare for what lies ahead. This week I upgraded my Keurig in prep for those sleepless nights. I love it!
Food cravings – My carb and sugar cravings weren’t as bad this past week but they’re still there. I can’t say I had any specific cravings last week. Still loving a good salad, smoothie, and/or juice!
Workouts – Last week I got to spin twice, which was my goal. I did walk a lot, thanks to running errands with my mom and sister, but otherwise I only had the two scheduled workouts.
Sleep – I’m doing pretty good in the sleep department. I’m uncomfortable some nights and then out like a light other nights. I stayed up too late last week with family and friends in town, but it was worth it!
Symptoms – Heartburn and sore muscles. Otherwise I’m doing good!
Doctors Appointments – Last week I had my week 31 appointment and all was great! I gained a little more weight than I wanted between weeks 29 and 31, but I honestly didn’t do the best job of watching my calories over 4th of July and last week. My next appointment is during week 33.
Thoughts and feelings – Yesterday’s post about my body image pretty much hit the nail on the head. I honestly feel awesome most days, so it’s hard seeing myself in the mirror and feeling discouraged by my body image. What I see doesn’t connect with how great I’m feeling. I am not looking for pity and I am definitely not complaining, I am just sharing the reality of the emotions I’m feeling at the 32 week mark.
In all honesty, what makes me the most insure is how full my face is, not how my body has changed overall. It takes me back to being an obese teenager and feeling the need to hide. They are difficult feelings to be feeling again, but as I shared yesterday, I fully connect with how amazing my body is and how temporary this period is in the long run.
With just 8 weeks until our due date, Neal and I are starting to get really excited! We want our daughter to stay put as long as possible, but at the same time we’re eager to meet her! It’s still way too early, but I’m sure by 36 weeks we’ll be itching for the last month or so to fly by.
In the mean time I’m just focused on staying healthy, enjoying these last two months with just Neal, and preparing for our daughter’s arrival! We’re incredibly excited!
