The Bump

Pregnancy Update Week 36

Movement – I can still feel the baby move a ton!  I was told she might slow down as she runs out of room, but so far it feels like she still has plenty of room.

Baby Prep – I worked my butt off this past weekend to knock things off my baby prep list.  This weekend I washed 2 huge loads of baby laundry, reorganized the living room, family room, and guest room with Neal’s help, assembled baby gear, got the car seat inspected, and finished packing our hospital bags.  Neal and I were both pretty worn out by the end of the weekend but we are now essentially done with baby prep.  I still want to overhaul/clean the house these next few weeks, hang a few things around the house, and finish decorating the nursery, but essentially, the baby can come any time!

Baby Showers - Last week I had two lovely showers at work.  It was so nice celebrating with the people I spend most of my week with.

Food cravings – FRUIT!! Neal and I are members of a CSA and last week’s cantaloupe and watermelon totally hit the spot!!! I also loved having sweet potatoes with lunch last week.  They are so filling and totally satisfied my sweet tooth.  I would also eat ice cream every day if I could.  It is really hard staying away from sweets!

Workouts – Last week I went to one spin class.  I had planned on going twice but Tuesday night’s class just didn’t work out.  Sunday’s class was awesome and a great way to close out the week.  I’m still taking Theodore for walks and am trying to stay as active as possible day to day.

Sleep –  I actually slept a lot better this past week!  I’m still struggling with insomnia (depending on the night), but when I am asleep it’s pretty awesome.  I wake up almost every night between 2AM and 4AM and either head right back to bed or am wide awake.  I’ve actually gotten a lot of writing and DVR watching done during those early morning hours, so it’s not wasted, but I do miss sleeping through the night.  I think it’s a good transition though as I know I won’t be sleeping through the night for quite some time after the baby arrives.

Symptoms – My legs are pretty achy these days, mostly at night.  My doctor said that it’s normal and to just keep chugging water.  Eating bananas definitely helps!  These symptoms make me miss drinking Rehydrate!  My heartburn on the other hand is essentially non-existent, which makes me very happy.

Doctors Appointments – Yesterday morning we had our 36 week appointment.  The doctor essentially said we have a way to go.  The baby is still head down, which is awesome, but she has yet to drop.  The doctor told me to enjoy the next few weeks as the baby most likely will not be here any time soon.

Thoughts and feelings – I’m feeling really great!  Sure I have my moments, but overall I’m really grateful for how I feel at the 9 month mark.  Yes I’m sore and tired, but I’m still really active and am overall pretty comfortable.  Some days I freak out at the thought of our daughter arriving and other days she can’t come soon enough.  It’s really hard for me to connect with the fact that I actually have a baby growing inside of me and that she’ll be delivered in about 4 weeks. Crazy!!

I just can’t wait for the baby to arrive and to be on maternity leave this fall.  4 weeks (more or less) to go!!
