A Bouncing Baby …

Yesterday was an absolutely perfect and emotional day! Bright and early, Neal and I headed to my OBGYN for our 20 week appointment and anatomy scan.  For months I’ve gone back and forth about what I thought we were having, but knew I didn’t want to wait until the delivery to find out.

The scan itself was really fascinating!! To see the baby’s arms, legs, heart, and other features was absolutely beautiful. It’s amazing to think of what I’m literally growing inside of me. Side note, did you know that it takes 80,000 calories to grow a human? Odd fact I learned yesterday.

Our baby was already showing us its habits, including how much it loves to put its hands on its face… just like its mommy! I’m notorious for sleeping with my arms overhead and my hand on my face, so to see our baby doing the same thing brought about inexpressible joy!

When the tech told us what we were having, I just couldn’t believe it!! I honestly didn’t know how I’d react, but I think Neal and I both just sat there processing it all. We were both overjoyed and nervous all at the same time.

You see, I’ve been all over the place with what I thought we were having and what I thought would be fun to have first. When it came to planning the nursery, I was all about having a little girl, but I ended up with a ton of boy outfits.

After yesterday’s appointment, one outfit remained, and we’re thrilled to announce that we’re having a little girl early September!!

My heart is overwhelmed with the thought of holding a baby girl in the fall. It really hit me yesterday that I’m going to be a mom and that Neal and I together are going to teach her about life, love, and how to live a happy and healthy life. It’s an equally scary and exciting thing!

Our families are incredibly happy and I’m so grateful to have their support! Getting flowers at work was such a treat and I know our daughter is going to be so loved!

After work, Neal and I enjoyed dinner at Melting Pot (thank you Living Social for the steal deal). It was fun being able to talk about our baby and to dream about what it’s going to be like having a girl!
