Yesterday Neal and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary! These past two years have been truly wonderful and I loved being able to celebrate with Neal and reminisce about the past.
Our second year of marriage was everything we hoped our first year of marriage would be. It was relaxing, routine, and extremely peaceful compared to our first year. Our first year, though awesome, was pretty fast paced and a smidge overwhelming. We got Theodore 3 weeks after our honeymoon, I played full contact football for the DC Divas 9 out of the 12 months, and Neal dealt with an injury from an incredibly random accident the day before his birthday. Year one was a little stressful at times, so having a relaxing second year was our goal!
This year Neal and I made the most of the fall, celebrated the holidays here in DC together instead of traveling to Texas and Iowa, went on a fabulous cruise to the Caribbean, and found out we are expecting our first child in September. It was a truly perfect year for us and I loved reminiscing last night!
To celebrate our second year, Neal and I got massages at Massage Envy and then went to dinner at Pizza Paradiso in Old Town Alexandria. We wanted a casual night out and knew heading over to Old Town would be perfect.
For dinner we ordered a Quattro Formaggi pizza with panchetta, which was divine! Though I love red sauce on a pizza, this pizza is the perfect balance of garlic and cheese.
After dinner we walked across the street to Pop’s for dessert. We each got 2 scoops of ice cream, butterfinger coffee for me and S’mores for Neal. We then enjoyed the last few minutes of sunlight while eating our ice cream along the waterfront before heading home.
Neal and I are both really excited about our 3rd year of marriage and all that the upcoming year will hold! We’re obviously thrilled to have our daughter in September and create new memories as a family, but we’re also looking forward to growing closer together and helping each other reach our personal and professional goals! It’s going to be a great year!
Thank y’all again for all the anniversary wishes! It was a really fun day!
