On Sunday, Neal and I went for a run around the monuments downtown DC. Even though we’ve lived here for years, this was our first time running along the national mall and past the monuments.

We started at the Vietnam War Memorial…

It was so much fun and reminded me why I love this city so much!

Neal and I ran the first 5K and then walked about .60 mile before closing out our run with some sprints.

It was a humid day so Neal and I ended up only running 4.16 miles instead of the planned 5 miles, but sometimes you just have to roll with it.  Although it wasn’t our best run, it feels great being able to run 3-4 miles straight without walking.

Neal and I have actually decided to move our weekly runs to Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday as we were having trouble getting our runs in on Thursday and Saturday.  I think this new schedule will work a lot better for us.

Afterwards we went to South Block Cafe for breakfast wraps and some of their amazing cold press juice.

This was a pretty good week and although it’s Weigh-In Wednesday, I decided to chart my progress today instead of weighing myself (thanks Aunt Flo).  As I’ve decided to continue to weigh myself despite being encouraged to let go of the scale, I’ve had to understand that the scale can not define me and won’t always be the best method for tracking my progress (like when I’m bloated or sick).

Last week when I met with Rebecca (my nutritionist) we talked about other ways in which I can track my progress.  We agreed that aside from the scale I can take body measurements and can track my weight over time.  This week I am tracking my weight over time and am really happy with how I’ve done…

Though my weight may go up and down over time, seeing the downward trend is really what I’m looking for.

What’s your favorite place to run?

Do you track your weight over time?
