This morning Neal and I headed over to Virginia for a 3 mile run on the Mt. Vernon Trail. This is one of our favorite places to run, so I was thrilled to make our way over there.
Neal has been really supportive of my fitness goals and is also working hard to prepare for the Army 10 Miler.
As I’ve run a 5K, 10K, 15K, and Half Marathon, my goals this time around are less about the distance and time and more about how I run the race. My goal is to run the entire race, regardless of how long it takes me to finish it. Although the run/walk method has worked well for me, I know that I’m capable of running the whole time.
Today’s run was fantastic! We ran 3.1 miles (a 5K) with NO walking!! YAY!
Mile 1 – 11:52
Mile 2 – 11:31
Mile 3 – 10:42
.01 – 1:04
Total time – 35:09
Neal is MUCH faster than me, so I was grateful that he ran with me. I do hope though that he takes off and starts to do his own thing. I want to see him PR!
Afterwards we headed to Arlington for breakfast at Bayou Bakery in Court House.
There’s nothing better than a homemade biscuit and now that I’ve reached a place where I’m not labeling foods as good or bad, I was really excited to enjoy a biscuit today after our run.
I started off with some French press coffee, which was divine!
For breakfast Neal had the biscuits and gravy, which was made with andouille sausage instead of pork sausage. He loved it!
I had a biscuit sandwich with turkey sausage, egg, and cheddar cheese. IT. WAS. AWESOME!
I think having a special breakfast after a long run is a great treat! Neal and I love cranking out our run and then refueling with a breakfast. I’ll be the first to admit that it’s awesome knowing that you’re going to have a big breakfast after a long run!
This morning was a great kickoff to the weekend and I’m looking forward to everything else we have planned…
