Last week I got this feeling while driving that something was going on with our car and low and behold Friday she overheated. Womp womp! Being sans car all weekend could have stunk, but Neal and I made the most of it!
Yesterday morning Neal and I got up SUPER early and drove our car to our mechanic. I was worried the car would overheat again, so our mechanic recommended driving over early when no one was on the road and the temperatures were a lot cooler. Thankfully we got there quickly and safely… now I get to wait for the “good” news on how much money I get to spend to fix the car. I have a feeling a new car is in our future.
After dropping our car off, Neal and I went on a spontaneous trip to Eastern Market.
We hopped on the metro at East Falls Church (my old stomping grounds) and made our way down the orange line to Capitol Hill.
Neal and I both love Eastern Market. It is the perfect combination of farmers market and flea market, all nestled into Capitol Hill! It made for a perfect Sunday surprise.
After walking around the market, I popped into Port City Java for an iced coffee before heading over to The Market Lunch for breakfast.
Although we’ve come to Eastern Market a gazillion times, we’ve never tried The Market Lunch, which is known for their buckwheat pancakes and benedicts.
For breakfast I ordered the blueberry buckwheat pancakes which were amazing! They were hearty and sweetened perfectly by the blueberries.
Neal ordered the Turkey Bacon Benedict, which he loved! I’ve never been a big fan of eggs benedict, but I’ll admit that this holondase was pretty delicious.
Being a single car family, Neal and I had to put all of our weekend plans to the side and just live spontaneously. We may not have gotten any errands done this weekend, but we had a great time hanging out at home, lounging by the pool, going for runs, and stopping by our favorite DC market!
